Local Input and Sustainability

Species is organized, managed, crafted, painted, sculpted, performed, arranged, maintained and benefited by a diverse spectrum of members old and new to the Gothic & Industrial community of Ireland, who offer a wealth of talent across many disciplines but rarely get a chance to exhibit it so collectively. We here at Species firmly believe this annual gathering will become a big driver in the promotion, skills and attributes of its participants. In providing a platform for networking and creating dialogue among the Gothic & Industrial community, with hopes that the ripples produced from these events can boost Gothic and industrial arts, performance, produce and skills within Ireland for years to come. By the people, for the people, and beyond…

Site Capacity

Species event capacity is set to a maximum of 300 people inclusive of artists, volunteers, crew, staff and public guests. The ratio of public to event participants is close to 50/50 this creates a deliberate level of exclusivity and quality to the event that we believe makes Species a truly unique and communal party experience.

We have four camping areas on which to pitch your tent for a traditional camping experience, with easy access to the rest of the site.

Around the Site

Around the site you can find an array of weird and wonderful artistic installations, murals, sculptures and other such interests, all designed and created by local artists.

Energy Usage

The main energy  powering our festival is through solar and wind power. This requires a different approach to energy usage which is being replicated over the rest of the site – reducing the actual amount of energy required, not just the source of energy. Things such as L.E.D lighting make a big difference to our energy usage. We have diesel/petrol generators as a back up for heavier usage such as our main stage.
