Species 2017, Gothic & Industrial Arts and Culture Gathering was delighted to welcome Species Newcomers The Pox Men for a truly atmospheric Gothic Celtic and musically magical performance, formed in the bogs of Donegal thousands of years ago, The Pox Men recently ventured out into the cold modern air, with a bag of songs and a wheelbarrow full of instruments. Fueled by poitin, mushrooms and spuds, they roar and shout and sing and play, about the horses, the wee folk, the witches, the turf, the thunder and lightnin’, and the silver tractors of ancient times. The Pox Men are Bill on vocal chords and guitar strings, Will on electrified guitar, Kev on acoustical bass, Mike on the beating barrels, and occasionally, if the moon is in the right place, they have a mysterious fiddler appear of whom they have never dared to ask him his name. They are trying to learn the tin whistle too.
